An Introduction to the Yoga Sutras with Joe Kara

The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali is one of the primary Yoga Philosophy texts, created to help people reduce suffering, resulting in a more joyful life. Joe considers the sutras a key tool for expanding self awareness and that discussing them is to open up a box full of precious gems. With consideration, the sutras come alive as a wealth of wisdom and tools for living a most joyful life that is both practical and profound.

In this 3 hour session, intended for anyone and everyone interested in Yoga Philosophy, we will explore the sutras as a way to uncover the potential of the mind through knowledge of basic life lessons, reminders, tools and skills that are at the heart of the yogic teachings. We will do a general overview of the sutras as well as unravel specific sutras and how they can be applied in ways that are accessible and sustainable, allowing for integration into everyday life. This workshop is discussion based and although we may do a few minutes of breath centered movement, yoga poses are not the focus of this workshop so you will not need a yoga mat, but please bring a notebook.
